Every Thursday the Crumlin CDP senior citizens do line dancing in the Pearse Community Club as part of their activities. It is a healthy activity and the senior citizens enjoy it very much.
Instead of bonfires the community in Lower Crumlin decided to have a party and disco for the young people in the area. On Thursday 28th of October a Club 98 fancy dress party was held in the the Pearse College community center and on Halloween night a disco was held in the Transport Club, both events were well attended and many thanks from Crumlin CDP to the people who helped out.
Lower Crumlin have advanced to the third round of the FAI Junior Cup after a hard fought 2 - 0 victory over Palmerstown Athletic at Brickfield Park on Saturday 24th of October. Goals from Andrea Marsella and Stephen Purdy sealed the victory for Lower Crumlin. In the League Lower Crumlin are currently third in the UCFL Premier Division while the second team are seventh in the UCFL third division.
Sundrive Credit Union held a very sucessful social night in the Transport Club on Tuesday 13th October. The staff of the credit union served chicken and chips to all those in attendance who also enjoyed complimentary drinks and a great band. Thanks to the Credit Union for organising this event for the local community.
Lower Crumlin FC are having another successful season but are still on the look out for new players so any wannabe Ronaldos are asked to ring Philip Rooney at 0857653081.
A public meeting took place in the Transport Club on Thursday 1st October 2009 in relation to illegal parking at the Rutland Grove - Sundrive Park entrance.There is a fear in the local community that emergency services might not be able to enter Rutland Grove due to the illegal parking and residents often report problems trying to drive in and out of their estate due to the parking. Many residents spoke of their desire to have traffic lights at the Rutland Ave & Clogher Road cross roads.A feed back meeting has being arranged for Thursday 15th October at 7:30pm.
Over the last number of weeks the Crumlin CDP womens group have been doing a very successful flowering arranging course which has now ended. Over the weeks the group made some beautiful flower arranging showpieces which will be used in local raffles.
The Lower Crumlin Family Support Group won the Dublin bus award for the great work it does in the Lower Crumlin area. Ann Sharpe and Bernie Lee were presented with the award in Croke Park on Thursday 17th September 2009.
Lower Crumlin showed great spirit against Orchard Celtic in the UFCL Premier Division top of the table clash in Brickfield Park on Saturday 12th September. Despite being three nil down with only fifteen minutes left goals from Stephen Kinch and Ger Cleary put Lower Crumlin back into contention but it was not to be. Lower Crumlin are now third in the table but still hoping to be top at the end of the season.
On Thursday 27th August the Crumlin CDP senior citizens group visited the Botanic Gardens. The Group travelled in two buses supplied by the Gardai and Michael Mallon House to the Botanic Gardens were the group enjoyed a lovely meal and some great sights. Thanks to Ann Sharpe and Michael Hales for organizing the successful trip.
Crumlin Active Citizen Funded by the CDP have being holding very successful classes for senior citizens in the Crumlin CDP office on Thursdays between 2pm-3pm.Around twenty senior citizens have being taken part in the classes so a big thank you to Marie Mooney for running such a successful class.
On Wednesday 12th August Harry Murphy of Crumlin CDP attended a FAI Conference Developing Football and Developing Communities which was held in Limerick. Some of those in attendence were Minister Batt O' Keefe, John Delaney FAI Secretary, Packie Bonner FAI Technical Department, FAI National Coaches, Karl Mitchell DCC, Des Tomlinson FAI Anti Racist Coach, Community Garda, and RAPID Chairpersons and Co-Ordinators.The conference was a great success and some great ideas were put forward of how to get more young people playing football. Harry Murphy also attended the friendly with Australia in Thomond Park but the least said about that match the better.
For the first time ever Dublin 12 hosted the National Irish Bank FAI Summer School co-funded by Rapid through Dublin City Council. The camp ran from July 27th - July 31st. All kids got a football kit, cert, photo, and a ticket to watch the best football team in the country St Patricks Athletic. Many thanks to Mark Kenny, Mitch Whitty and Lower Crumlin Rapid for all the good work which made this summer camp so sucessful.
On Sunday 5th July Lower Crumlin boxing club held a boxing exhibition in the Transport Club. There was six fights involving boxers from Lower Crumlin Tallaght and Donore avenue boxing clubs. A good crowd and the local news were in attendance which was a great promotion for Lower Crumlin boxing club who will be running more events in the near future. Thanks to all the fighters who took part and the local people who gave the event such great support.
Club 98 visited Cavan Camp on Monday 29th June for a couple of days of fun and adventure. The kids took part in all the activities which included archery, canoeing, and climbing. Cavan Camp said Club 98 was one of the best behaved youth clubs that have being there so another trip is being planned soon.Thanks to Eddie and Marion for all their hard work.
The Crumlin CDP Seniors Club went to Glendelough for the day on Thursday 25th June.They had a meal and organized tour of this historic part of Wicklow which was blessed with glorious sunshine.Thanks to the organizers Ann Sharpe & Michael Hales From the Crumlin CDP Project.
After five seasons of promotion Lower Crumlin are now in the UCFL Premier. Due to the recent success of the club they are now forming a second team and anyone wishing to join both teams can come training every Monday and Wednesday evening in Brickfield Park Drimnagh or ring Philip at 0857653081.
On Tuesday 9th June in the Crumlin CDP office the Library bus gave out certificates to local people who had completed a computer course hosted by the Library bus.
